- A 3x3x3 Rubik’s cube consists of 21 joined pieces:
- 1 principal piece with three axles.
- 8 corner pieces (corner solid shapes) with three tones.
- 12 edge pieces (edge 3D squares) with two tones.
History
- Ernő Rubik assembled his first cube puzzle in 1974 and called it the Magic Cube.
- In the following years, it was used by Ernő Rubik to teach his students about three-dimensional spaces.
- After a toy agent pitched the puzzle to Ideal Toy & Novelty Company, it renamed the puzzle Rubik’s Cube.

- He is an inventor, architect, and professor of architecture.
- He is also the inventor of the Rubik’s Magic, Rubik’s Snake, Rubik’s Triamid, and Rubik’s 360.
Facts
- It was Invented in 1974 by Ernő Rubik and originally named the “Magic Cube”.
- It was released into stores in 1980 and renamed to the “Rubik’s Cube”.
